US: We are a boutique law firm that focuses on assisting small businesses and startups. A lot of our work is preparing and filing entity documents, drafting corporate finance documents, preparing, analyzing and managing complex contracts, assisting with mergers and acquisitions and general start-up advice.

Most of our clients do, or will eventually, encounter a serious business dispute or a lawsuit. Knowing that means our litigation group is growing, we are seeking an experienced litigation candidate to join our firm.

We remain committed to a healthy work-life balance, and going to work for us means the flexibility to work from anywhere.  At any hour.

We offer unlimited vacation time, health insurance, home office and business development reimbursement, 401(k) matching and bonuses that start accumulating at 700 billable hours.

YOU: We are now in search of an attorney with at least five years of business litigation experience to join our litigation group. Work includes: drafting complaints, navigating inbound and outgoing discovery, preparing and filing motions, preparing conducting and analyzing depositions.  There will be direct client meetings, discussions and correspondence which is nearly always virtual. There could be limited court appearances by Zoom expected for the experienced litigator who will excel at law and motion, trial prep and dispositive motion work. In-court trial experience, and conducting mediation and arbitration hearings can also be part of your work at Bend Law.

If you are interested in working for a law firm that is on the lowest low end of the “law firm jerkiness” bell curve, we would like to have a discussion with you. You earn bonus points if you have trial and/or arbitration experience as first or second chair or have previously done trial support and trial prep.

This position can be full-time or part-time. This job could be a very good fit for a stay-at-home parent or someone who has other family obligations where work can be done between obligations, in the middle of the night, or whenever you can arrange a block of time. We have one mandatory team call a week that usually lasts one-half hour.

Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.

CA STATE BAR IN GOOD STANDING REQUIRED. The candidate must be currently barred to practice law in California (admission to the Federal Bar, Northern District of CA and any other US District Court or Court of Appeal a plus). If you are licensed to practice in another state, please mention this as we have lawyers with licenses to practice in California, Colorado, New York, and Texas.

Sound like something you’d like to experience in your practice?

Please prepare an e-mail with your resume and at least two (case-related) writing samples (pleadings, motions, arbitration briefs, your choice of your best legal work, redact where necessary) to Doug Bend by email to: Doug@BendLawOffice.com.
